On 31 October 2022, a Ukrainian Army Aviation Mi-8 helicopter crashed under unknown circumstances in the vicinity of Konstantinovka in Donetsk Oblast while carrying out a combat mission. The three crew members (Pilot, Navigator and Flight Engineer) survived the crash as the aircraft was flying at a low altitude, but sustained significant burn injuries. As a result they were urgently transported to Dnipro for medical treatment.

It is unknown if forces of the Russian Federation downed the aircraft, or the crash occurred due to other reasons. On 30 October 2022, the Russian Ministry of Defence stated in a briefing that a Ukrainian Mi-8 helicopter had been shot down in the area of Konstantinovka. However, this time appears to be a date before that described in official Ukrainian court documents describing the crash, making the claim speculative.
