While at a hover on the backside of a hill, the aircraft entered an undetected slight rearward movement causing the tail rotor to strike a tree. The T/R assembly departed the aircraft causing a loss of control with the fuselage spinning in uncontrollably into the trees. The front seater was injured, pilot was uninjured. Aircraft was assigned to B Company, 3rd Battalion, 229th Attack Helicopter Regiment.
